Sportsmen’s specialty is off-stadium racing Sports Adventure of Maneville (Eure), near Pont-Audemars. Marathons, trails and even ultra-trails are meticulously prepared by coaches Patrice Perret and Christelle Coignard. These “enthusiasts” of running practice other disciplines: Triathlon and swimming (mix of swimming and running), Mountain biking or cycling.
Thus, the club’s new president, who was elected last June, Gilles Herrand, Vice President, Herve Bacheli, plans to participate in their first swim. “On May 1, 2023, there will be a race in the Gorges du Verdon”, indicates Gilles Herran, who completed his first triathlon (M), Pont-l’Veque (Calvados). A few months ago, he competed in the sprint event of the Pont-Audemars Triathlon. A partnership with the Pont-Audemars Triathlon Club (PAT) seems to have inspired some adventurers to find other disciplines! “The agreement between the two clubs allows the triathletes to run on the track and the Sport Avenger athletes to train in the water,” underlines Gilles Herran.
Many members are preparing for their next Marathon : Some will go to Bruges, others to Amsterdam, Deauville, or La Rochelle. Last season, the Sport Adventurers completed many small and large distances across France: Annecy, the scenic escape in the Alps, etc. A few weeks ago, Thierry Triconnet completed the 365 km “Mega Ultra Trail” in Switzerland in 151 hours over six days.
“A Family Club”
The number of licensees in the club is stable (49 members last year). The leaders hope to have that many this season, but do not want to expand too much: “We are a family club. We regularly do joint training with the Campigny club (Running club de Campigny). We mainly welcome adults,” develops Gilles Herran. A club with a very good percentage of women.
The fair sex found the new office exclusively in the secretariat with Christine Leconte supported by Laurence Herren. In addition to her husband Gilles heading the club, Hervé Bacheli and Romuald Larchèvec are vice-presidents, Didier Canal is still treasurer, and Arnaud Gilbert is on board. An office preparing the next Trail des Resistances scheduled for Sunday 29 January 2023 in Manneville-sur-Risle. Distances and routes will be similar to the last route at the beginning of the year.
Gilles Herran is a former footballer
The new president of Sport Avenger came to the club ten years ago. “After giving up football I dedicated myself to running. I played for a long time at FC Val de Ris, mainly in the Promotion d’Honneur. At the age of 31, after rupturing my cruciate ligaments, I had to stop. I first joined the Bipedes de Bernay club before arriving at Paac and then Sport Aventure. .I also practiced karate for 5-6 years,” he says. For three seasons, Gilles Herran was a member of the club’s office during the presidency of Thierry Triconnet and then his predecessor, Richard Reneaux.
